Addressing the gathering, Iqrar Ul Hassan said the core aim of the movement is to bring real and workable change to Pakistan’s political system.

He strongly criticized decades of family run and personality based politics, saying such practices have weakened democratic institutions and kept ordinary citizens away from real power.

‘Our politics must move away from faces and families and shift toward strong institutions, clear rules, and honest democratic practice,’ he said. He emphasized that Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek would not belong to any individual or household, but to the common people of Pakistan.

Iqrar Ul Hassan made it clear that he has no desire for any political or government office. Speaking with a note of moral commitment, he said he considers Allah and the Holy Prophet ﷺ as witnesses to his intentions. ‘I will neither seek power nor accept it under pressure,’ he stated, adding that his struggle is intellectual, reform driven, and long term, not position oriented.

In a post on social media platform X, he wrote, ‘We have seen military rule, Bhutto’s rule, Khan’s rule, and governor’s rule. Now, it is time for Awam Raj rule of the people.’ He announced that the democratic movement would formally carry the name Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek and prayed that Allah makes it beneficial for the country. He also introduced the slogan, ‘Now the people will rule.’

Earlier, Iqrar Ul Hassan had repeatedly said that his mission is not to capture power but to empower citizens. He stressed that political parties are not private shops, they are public institutions owned by the people.

Comparing Pakistan’s political culture with Western democracies like the US and UK, he pointed out that leadership there changes through internal democracy, while in Pakistan politics has long revolved around a few families.

According to him, unless the public rises collectively against a faulty system rather than isolated individuals, failure will continue to repeat itself. It is worth noting that he first announced plans for a new political party in December and had earlier indicated that the party would be formally launched on January 15, 2026, with serious preparation for upcoming elections.

With simple words, bold claims, and a people first message, Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek is being presented as an attempt to reset the political conversation in the country from rulers to citizens, and from power to participation.
