Medical sources in Gaza said an Israeli drone strike targeted two makeshift tents in Khan Younis on Saturday, killing at least two Palestinians, including a young girl, and injuring four others.

Gaza s Civil Defence said rescue teams recovered seven injured people from the site of an Israeli strike on tents in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis. The wounded were transferred to Nasser Hospital and the Red Cross Hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, a 10-year-old Palestinian boy, Walid Youssef Abu Jazar, died from injuries he had sustained days earlier during an Israeli strike on al-Mawasi, according to a source at Nasser Hospital.

Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum said Israeli attacks have continued despite the ceasefire agreement.

He said Israeli drones struck makeshift tents in al-Mawasi, an area designated under the ceasefire as a safe zone for thousands of displaced Palestinians. He added that drone activity over Gaza had intensified alongside continued air raids.

The killing of Palestinian children has drawn renewed international attention following a recent United Nations report documenting attacks on children in Gaza. The report said children account for about 30 percent of those killed since the war began in October 2023.

Children s rights campaigner Rachel Accurso, widely known as Ms Rachel, said the international community had failed to stop the killing of children in Gaza. Speaking alongside one of the report s authors, she said there had been no meaningful action or accountability despite the scale of the humanitarian crisis.

Chris Sidoti, a United Nations commissioner and co-author of the report, described its findings as "absolutely heartbreaking" and urged states to fulfil their legal obligations to act.

According to Gaza s Health Ministry, at least 73,043 Palestinians have been killed and 173,417 wounded since the war began in October 2023.

The ministry also said that since the October 2025 ceasefire, Israeli attacks have killed 1,031 Palestinians and injured another 3,309.
