Areas including Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Saddar and II Chundrigar Road received intermittent rain, while heavier spells were recorded in Federal B Area, Malir Halt and Rifa-e-Aam. Showers were also reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar as clouds covered parts of the city.
Power outages were reported in Defence View soon after the rain began, causing inconvenience to residents. Water accumulated in low lying areas of Saddar and nearby neighbourhoods, disrupting traffic in several parts of the city due to flooded roads and potholes.
Traffic flow was also affected near Nipa Chowrangi and along University Road, including Hassan Square, where authorities worked to drain rainwater.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more thunderstorms in the city, saying the rain is likely to continue intermittently until tonight. The department added that the heat intensity is expected to decrease, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 31 degrees Celsius.
According to PMD data, the highest rainfall of 13.22 millimetres was recorded at Jinnah Terminal, followed by Gulshan-e-Iqbal and PAF Masroor Base. Other areas including Old Airport, Nazimabad, Faisal Base, Korangi and Surjani Town also received varying amounts of rain.
The Met Office said skies are likely to remain cloudy on the second and third days of Eid.
Rain is also expected in other parts of Sindh, including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Hyderabad, along with coastal areas. There is also a risk of lightning during rainfall.
Further showers are likely in districts such as Kamber Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin and others, with farmers advised to take precautions.
Weather conditions are also expected to change in Punjab, where rain is likely in cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore, with chances of hail in some areas.
