MQM Delegation Meets Prime Minister, Demands Powers for Local Governments in 27th Amendment

MQM Pakistan has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to include provisions in the 27th Constitutional Amendment that would grant greater authority and autonomy to local governments.

According to local media reports, the MQM delegation met the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s House, where they held a detailed discussion regarding the upcoming 27th Amendment.

Sources revealed that the MQM delegation included Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Farooq Sattar. During the meeting, the MQM leaders emphasized the need to empower local bodies through constitutional means to ensure better governance at the grassroots level.

It is worth noting that the ruling coalition is preparing to table the 27th Constitutional Amendment soon. Sources added that the amendment is expected to be passed by both Houses of Parliament within this month.
