Addressing newly elected members of the assembly, Sharif said that the recent by elections showed that people voted for performance, not for provocation. He added that the politics of resentment, chaos, and reckless agitation faced a clear defeat at the ballot box.
Sharif congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz on the victory, stating that decisive government measures had begun to soften the grip of inflation and restore public confidence.
The PML-N leader said the newly elected parliamentarians deserved recognition for their commitment, adding, By the grace of God, the culture of insults, hostility, and public indecency has been pushed back.
The previous government left only upheaval in its wake. He noted that the nation had been brought to the edge of financial collapse, and that basic norms of governance were blatantly ignored.
Sharif criticized the handling of foreign affairs in the previous term, claiming that the country’s diplomatic standing had been chipped away, piece by piece. He argued that if the earlier momentum of development had continued, Pakistan would have held a respectable place among emerging economies.
He added that the government had worked tirelessly to pull the country back from the brink, saying. We shielded Pakistan not only from economic default but from a deeper moral and social decline.
As the government moves forward, Sharif said efforts are under way to reset the national compass, rebuild systems, and restore stability. According to him, the past year and a half of governance had set a fresh record of public service, and both the federal and Punjab governments were working round the clock to repair what was broken.
