Medical officials reported that an airstrike on a tent camp sheltering displaced families killed at least four people. Health authorities added that another strike in Khan Younis in southern Gaza claimed five lives.
An Israeli military official said the Israel Defense Forces had launched strikes in response to what was described as a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas in the Beit Hanoun area. The official stated that militants had emerged from a tunnel east of the Yellow Line.
The official described the strikes as precise and carried out in accordance with international law. He accused Hamas of committing more than six violations of the October ceasefire, including deploying fighters east of the Yellow Line, which was established under the agreement to separate Israeli- and Hamas-controlled zones.
According to the official, crossing the Yellow Line near IDF troops while armed constitutes a clear violation of the ceasefire and reflects what he called systematic breaches by Hamas aimed at harming Israeli forces.
Israel and Hamas have repeatedly traded accusations over violations of the truce, which forms a central part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to end the war in Gaza.
On Saturday, the military said it had identified armed militants near Israeli troops operating in northern Gaza. The IDF also stated that it continued to dismantle underground tunnels in the area in line with the agreement.
The military reported observing several gunmen emerging from a tunnel and entering beneath the rubble of a building east of the Yellow Line. It said Israeli Air Force aircraft targeted the structure, killing two gunmen, and indicated that additional militants were likely killed in the strike.
The Gaza health ministry said that at least 600 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire deal took effect. Israel has reported that four of its soldiers were killed by militants in Gaza during the same period.
