The operation, conducted on April 21, 2026, targeted the reported presence of militants described by authorities as “khwarij.” ISPR said the troops engaged in an intense exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of all 22 militants, who were allegedly linked to Indian-sponsored groups involved in terrorist activities in the region.
However, the operation also saw a tragic civilian casualty. According to the statement, militants opened indiscriminate fire during the clash, leading to the martyrdom of a 10-year-old child.
Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the killed militants, who were reportedly active in multiple attacks in the area. A follow-up sanitisation operation is ongoing to clear any remaining threats.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism efforts under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign, aimed at eliminating militancy and ensuring long-term stability.
