According to the Henley Passport Index 2026, Pakistan has improved its global passport ranking by two positions. The latest report places the Pakistani passport at 101st, up from 103rd in the previous edition.

The annual index, published by global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners, evaluates the strength of 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without obtaining a visa in advance. The rankings cover 227 travel destinations worldwide.

With the updated ranking, Pakistani passport holders can now travel to 29 countries or territories without securing a visa before departure, either through visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival arrangements.

Henley & Partners notes that the rankings are based on visa policies and data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). However, the firm also points out that temporary travel restrictions and policy changes may affect actual entry requirements.

Pakistan Still Among the World s Weakest Passports

Despite the improvement, Pakistan remains among the world s least powerful passports. In the latest rankings, it is ahead of only Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the index, with access to 22 destinations without a prior visa.

Pakistan Trails Regional Neighbors

Compared with neighboring countries, Pakistan continues to lag behind.

India ranks 81st, offering access to 55 destinations.

Bangladesh is 97th with access to 35 destinations.

Nepal ranks 98th, providing access to 34 destinations.

Although Pakistan has moved up two places in the rankings, its passport still offers fewer visa-free travel opportunities than these regional peers.

Singapore Retains World s Most Powerful Passport

Singapore continues to hold the top spot in the Henley Passport Index 2026, with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 192 destinations.

Japan ranks second with access to 188 destinations, while South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also feature among the world s strongest passports with the same score.

Sweden follows with access to 187 destinations, while Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Spain share the next positions with visa-free access to 186 destinations.
