The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that continued attacks against Saudi Arabia could further escalate tensions in an already volatile Middle East, emphasizing Pakistan s support for regional peace and stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Red Sea Attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday, during which he strongly condemned the Houthi attack on Saudi oil tankers operating in the Red Sea.

Calling the assault a "cowardly act," the Prime Minister said such attacks are completely unacceptable and constitute a clear violation of international law. He added that the attacks threaten freedom of navigation, international trade, and regional peace, security, and stability.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, stating that he, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the people of Pakistan stand firmly alongside the Saudi leadership and its citizens during this critical time.

He also reiterated Pakistan s full support for Saudi Arabia s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, adding that Islamabad will continue working with Saudi Arabia and the international community to safeguard maritime trade through the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, and other key regional waterways.

Saudi Crown Prince Appreciates Pakistan s Support

During the conversation, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed appreciation for Pakistan s continued supportSpeaking at the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan had also condemned and highlighted the strong brotherly relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his best wishes to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Foreign Office: Pakistan Will Honor Defense Agreements

Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan had also condemned a previous Houthi attack last week, with the Prime Minister immediately expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

The spokesperson emphasized that any attack on Pakistani vessels would cross a "red line," adding that Pakistan remains bound by its mutual defense agreements with Saudi Arabia and will fully honor all bilateral commitments.

Pakistan Calls for Diplomatic Resolution

The Foreign Office cautioned that attacks by Yemeni armed groups against Saudi Arabia risk intensifying existing regional tensions.

Pakistan urged all parties to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy instead of military confrontation.

Pakistan Expands Diplomatic Engagement in the Region

Pakistan has also intensified its diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and de-escalation.

According to the Foreign Office, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni recently visited Pakistan and met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss regional security developments.

In addition, Pakistan s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held meetings with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Oman, the Philippines, Russia, Bangladesh, and Kuwait on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.

During discussions with Egypt, both sides emphasized respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. Oman praised Pakistan s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting peace.

Ishaq Dar also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Bangladesh s Foreign Affairs Adviser Khalilur Rahman.

Pakistan to Participate in SCO Foreign Ministers  Meeting

The Foreign Office announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will travel to Bishkek to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.

During the visit, he is expected to meet the President of Kyrgyzstan and foreign ministers from other SCO member states to discuss regional cooperation and security.

Canada-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations Strengthen

The Foreign Office also confirmed that Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand recently visited Pakistan, marking the first visit by a Canadian foreign minister in two decades.

The visit included high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Canada.
