Following the deadline, authorities have accelerated the deportation process, with any Afghan national found living in Pakistan without a valid visa set to be arrested immediately.

Officials have also been directed to submit daily reports to the Ministry of Interior detailing the number of Afghan nationals detained for lacking valid travel documents, the action taken against them and their current legal status.

The move follows a directive issued by the Ministry of Interior on June 28, 2026, to the chief secretaries of all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Islamabad Capital Territory.

The letter instructed provincial administrations to ensure the implementation of the federal government s decisions regarding undocumented foreign nationals.

The ministry also directed deputy commissioners, police and other law enforcement agencies to issue the necessary instructions for the effective enforcement of the deportation policy.
