The petition was filed by PPP activist Muhammad Amir in the District and Sessions Court South Karachi. It seeks registration of an FIR against the film’s director, producers, actors and other individuals involved in the production and promotion of the movie.

Those named in the petition include director Aditya Dhar, producers Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Kishore Deshpande, and actors Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Beni. The petition also lists cinematographer Vikash Nolcha, editor Shiv Kumar V Panicker and other unidentified crew members as proposed accused.

According to the petitioner, the official trailer uses images of the late Benazir Bhutto and PPP-related visuals without legal permission. He further alleged that the film portrays the PPP as sympathetic to terrorists and describes Karachi’s Lyari area as a terrorist war zone, which he said is defamatory, misleading and damaging to Pakistan’s image.

The petition claims the trailer promotes hatred and contempt against the PPP, its leadership and its supporters. It cites several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code related to defamation, criminal intimidation, incitement to violence and promoting enmity between groups.

Amir stated that he had earlier submitted a written complaint to the SHO of Darakhshan police station, but no case was registered, prompting him to approach the court.

He has requested the court to direct police to immediately register an FIR, order a transparent and impartial investigation under the supervision of the SSP South, and ensure all responsible individuals are included in the probe related to the film.
