According to state broadcaster PTV, the prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with the parents of renowned late IT expert Arfa Karim Randhawa, Sameena Amjad and Amjad Karim Randhawa, along with the Chief Executive Officer of the Arfa Karim Foundation, Tabinda Islam.
The prime minister paid rich tribute to Arfa Karim for her extraordinary contributions to the IT sector at a very young age and for bringing global recognition to Pakistan. He said that in acknowledgment of her lasting services in the field of IT, the IT Tower in Lahore has been named after her and is now known as the Arfa Karim Tower.
He said the government is working day and night to make Pakistan a regional center for IT while encouraging youth to acquire IT education, professional training, and entrepreneurship in the sector.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further stated that the federal government is once again distributing laptops this year among high-performing students.

Terming the establishment of the Arfa Karim Foundation for the promotion of IT as a positive initiative, he assured that the government would extend full support to the foundation at the official level.
On the occasion, the parents of the late Arfa Karim appreciated the government’s efforts under the prime minister’s leadership to promote the IT sector and expressed confidence in these initiatives.
