Speaking at a press conference with senior journalists and television anchors, Lt Gen Chaudhry warned that the ambitions of one individual have reached a level where he believes, ‘if I am not there, nothing else should exist.’
The DG ISPR congratulated the nation on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and announced that the CDF headquarters has formally commenced operations.
He noted that the establishment of the headquarters had been a longstanding requirement to strengthen the country’s defense coordination.
Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted what he described as an internal national security threat, stating, ‘Politics has ended, his narrative has turned into a threat to Pakistan’s national security.’
He made it clear that the Pakistan Armed Forces represent no single region, language, sect, or political ideology, but are composed of personnel from every province, every language, and every faith.
The DG ISPR also stressed the middle class roots of the military, noting that the armed forces largely come from ordinary backgrounds, yet are committed to defending the nation with unwavering dedication. He warned, ‘If anyone attacks the Armed Forces or its leadership, we will not tolerate it.’
While emphasizing respect for all political leaders and parties, Lt Gen Chaudhry urged them to keep the army out of politics.
He clarified that while constructive criticism is welcome, attempts to incite the public against the institution would not be allowed. ‘No one will be allowed to create a divide between the people and the army,’ he affirmed.
This statement from the ISPR comes at a time of heightened attention on civil military relations, reminding the nation of the unshakable role of the armed forces in safeguarding Pakistan’s unity and security.
