In a statement posted on X, the party demanded that Imran be allowed an unrestricted meeting with his family and associates and be given medical treatment at a hospital of his own choice.

The PTI said media reports indicated that Imran had been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, resulting in a blockage in the retinal vein. The party cited medical experts who reportedly examined him in jail and warned that the condition was extremely serious and could lead to permanent loss of eyesight if not properly treated.

The statement alleged that despite medical advice, the jail administration was insisting that treatment be carried out inside the prison, even though the attending specialist had stated that such care required an operation theatre and specialised facilities not available in jail.

The party said Imran was last allowed to see his personal physician in October 2024 and claimed that court orders from the Islamabad High Court allowing medical access were being violated. It added that a petition regarding his regular medical check-ups had been pending since August 2025.

The PTI demanded that Imran be immediately allowed to meet his family to reassure the public about his condition and be transferred to Shaukat Khanum Hospital or another hospital of his choice for treatment. It warned that the government and jail authorities would be responsible for any permanent damage to his eyesight.

Shaukat Khanum Hospital also issued a statement expressing concern over Imran’s health and requested that a team of its physicians be allowed immediate access to participate in his care.

Meanwhile, Imran’s sisters questioned reports about his ailment while speaking to media outside Adiala jail. Noreen Khanum said the family had not been informed of any serious medical condition and suggested the reports could be rumours. Aleema Khanum said the jail administration was not sharing any information with the family or lawyers, while Uzma Khanum said Imran had mentioned a right eye infection during an earlier meeting but was only given eye drops.

Later, the PTI claimed that Aleema Khanum was stopped by police while returning from the jail. The opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen i Pakistan also alleged that Imran’s sisters were wrongfully confined and demanded legal action against those responsible.

Separately, PTI MNAs arrived at the Islamabad High Court to file a fresh petition seeking permission to meet Imran. PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Tuesdays were designated for meetings but access had repeatedly been denied. He reiterated concerns about Imran’s health and called for meetings to be allowed in line with court orders.

In a separate development, a sessions court extended interim bail for Imran in five cases related to May 9 and for Bushra Bibi in a Toshakhana related case. The court ordered that Imran be presented at the next hearing and extended interim bail until February 6.
