The Chief Minister also ordered the registration of FIRs against anyone renting property to foreigners, including Afghan nationals. The meeting called for daily reporting on properties rented out, including houses, shops, factories, hotels, and petrol pumps, and directed that announcements be made in mosques to help identify Afghan residents living illegally.
Patwaris, Numberdars, and the concerned area SHO were made responsible for reporting properties rented to foreigners, and it was agreed that field surveys would be conducted across all districts to identify illegally residing foreigners.
The meeting further decided to take legal action against foreigners working in Pakistan on visitor visas or those who entered the country illegally. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Afghan nationals working illegally would also face legal consequences.
Officials briefed the meeting that advanced facial recognition technology is being used to identify Afghan residents. It was reported that in Khanewal, five cases have already been registered for renting property to illegally residing Afghans. Across the province, 45 holding centers have been established for Afghan nationals, providing them with accommodation, food, and transport to the Torkham border.
