Police made significant progress in the case of eight-year-old Montaha s murder by arresting the prime suspect, Arsalan, along with five others. Those detained include a shop owner, Hanif, his son, and several other suspects. According to police, various aspects of the case are being investigated.

Police said the case was registered a day earlier on the complaint of the victim s father, who leveled serious allegations against the main suspect. Following the registration of the FIR, police launched an immediate operation, detained several individuals, and began investigations.

On the instructions of DPO Sargodha Sohaib Ashraf, a six-member special investigation team was formed to probe the case. Police said multiple raids were conducted to arrest the suspects, while the alleged criminal record of the main suspect is also being reviewed.

Officials stated that the arrested suspects are being questioned on various aspects of the case. They will be presented before a court to obtain physical remand, after which further legal proceedings will be carried out.

Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the victim s father had a dispute with the owner of the shop where he worked. Police said the shopkeeper had allegedly issued serious threats, and this angle is also being examined as part of the investigation.

Authorities have obtained CCTV footage related to the incident. The footage reportedly shows the girl entering a shop, but she is not seen leaving afterward. Police said the footage and other evidence are undergoing forensic analysis to establish the facts of the case.

Meanwhile, the victim s medical report has not yet been released. Doctors said it may take another 24 hours to complete, after which more details regarding the nature of the incident and the cause of death are expected to emerge.

Police said investigations are continuing and further legal action will be taken in light of the findings. Officials added that all aspects of the case are being carefully examined to ensure the investigation reaches a logical conclusion based on evidence.

It is worth noting that Montaha was laid to rest in the local central graveyard after funeral prayers were offered on the previous day. A large number of family members and residents attended the funeral, while the grieving parents demanded strict punishment for those involved and the swift delivery of justice.
