The latest operations were carried out under Operation Shaban, launched after the attack on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat. The operation is being conducted jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police.
Security sources said coordinated air and ground operations targeted militant hideouts, killing nine militants in the latest phase of Operation Shaban. They added that the total number of militants killed under the operation has now reached 64.
In a separate operation along the N-25 highway, security forces killed two more militants. According to security sources, weapons, hand grenades, motorcycles and mobile phones were recovered from those killed.
The operation will continue until all militants are eliminated, the sources added.
The latest operations come after a series of deadly attacks in Balochistan in which 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, were martyred.
Speaking earlier this week, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said militants attacked the Mangi Dam police checkpoint, but police personnel put up strong resistance and killed 15 militants during the initial engagement.
He said nine police personnel embraced martyrdom in the initial fighting, adding that militants had taken police personnel hostage before security forces reached the area.
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021.
In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, targeting what authorities described as militant hideouts across the border. Pakistani officials say the operation killed numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants while injuring hundreds more.
Border tensions also escalated in October 2025 following attacks on Pakistani border posts. Pakistani authorities said more than 200 Taliban fighters and allied militants were killed during the clashes, while 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom.
Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban administration have yet to reach an agreement, with Islamabad maintaining that insufficient action has been taken against militant groups operating from Afghan territory.
