Police sources said the suicide attacker tried to enter the mosque during prayers but was stopped by people present at the entrance. Moments later, the attacker detonated the explosive vest, causing a powerful blast that spread panic, smoke, and chaos across the area.

Soon after the explosion, police, rescue teams, law enforcement agencies, and bomb disposal squads rushed to the scene. The area was immediately sealed off, and all roads leading to Tralai were closed to traffic as a security precaution.

Officials said the injured were being shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital. On the directions of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, an emergency was declared across the capital.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi instructed Minister of State Talal Chaudhry to visit PIMS hospital. During his visit, Talal Chaudhry met the injured and ordered that special medical care and all possible facilities be provided to the victims.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience and strength for their families. The Prime Minister also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to review the security situation. He ordered a full, transparent investigation into the incident and directed authorities to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.

An eyewitness told reporters that gunfire was heard shortly before the explosion, adding to the fear and confusion moments before the blast.
