A first information report was lodged at Saddar Beroni police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act against Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, Qasim Khan, Aliya Hamza, Salman Akram Raja, Naeem Panjotha, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and others.
According to the FIR, the accused were booked for allegedly planning a criminal conspiracy against the state under Section 120 of the Pakistan Penal Code, attacking police personnel and violating Section 144.
Police said Imran Khan’s sisters, along with hundreds of PTI supporters, staged the sit-in after authorities stopped them from meeting the jailed former prime minister.
The FIR stated that the suspects raised slogans against the government and the state, blocked roads and interfered in official duties of police personnel. It further alleged that stones and glass bottles were thrown at the police during the protest.
Police said 14 suspects were arrested on the spot and presented before an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
Imran Khan has been in jail since August 2023 and is facing multiple cases, including corruption and terrorism charges, since his removal from office through a no-confidence motion in April 2022.
His incarceration has remained a major flashpoint between the government and PTI, with repeated protests and clashes over meetings with the former prime minister.
Last week, police forcefully ended an hours-long sit-in by Imran Khan’s sisters outside Adiala Jail, citing the end of official meeting hours. In November, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi staged a 16-hour sit-in outside the same facility.
The last reported meeting with Imran Khan took place on December 2, when his sister Uzma was allowed to see him after PTI raised concerns over his health and threatened to protest outside the Islamabad High Court.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and adviser on political affairs Rana Sanaullah have hinted at the possibility of transferring Imran Khan to another prison.
