A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami, led by its chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, met PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, and other leaders at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad. The meeting discussed the ongoing tense situation in Azad Kashmir, the difficulties faced by the public, and issues related to law and order.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that Azad Kashmir is facing a lockdown-like situation, with shortages of food and essential supplies, while recent incidents have also resulted in loss of precious lives, which is deeply unfortunate.
He added that instead of blame games, all political forces should work together to find a peaceful solution to the issue. According to him, the Kashmir issue is of national importance, and the current tensions are harming this objective.
Hafiz Naeem said that Jamaat-e-Islami has formed a committee to contact the Joint Action Committee, and it will also engage with the government, the Prime Minister, political parties, civil society, and other stakeholders to resolve the crisis through dialogue.
He urged the Government of Pakistan, the Government of Punjab, and the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential goods so that people do not face further hardship.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that a state is built by its people, and therefore the government must show greater responsibility, while the public and the Joint Action Committee should also adopt restraint and the path of negotiations.
Addressing the youth of Kashmir, he said that disagreement with any government, political party, or institution does not mean disagreement with Pakistan or its people, as the entire country stands with the Kashmiri people.
Hafiz Naeem reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to play its role in bringing all parties to the negotiating table and working for peace in Azad Kashmir, beyond political interests.
