Replying to a post on X, Musk forecasted that very soon AI and robots will start replacing humans in jobs across the globe. He said that as this shift occurs, working will become an option for humans rather than a necessity as it is today.
Giving an example, Musk explained that in the future, if someone wants to grow vegetables, they will choose to grow them rather than simply buying them. He asserted that AI and robots will become substitutes for humans in all occupations.
The post Musk replied to shared a report stating that e-commerce giant Amazon plans to replace thousands of workers with robots. According to The New York Times, Amazon intends to deploy robots for 500,000 jobs. However, the company denied the report, claiming it was incomplete and did not reflect their full future employment strategy.
In a separate interview, Musk said that in the future, goods and services will be available to people at nearly no cost. He added that people will have access to billions of robots to assist them in every task, with no expenses incurred by individuals.
He further stated that advancements in AI and robotics will improve the quality of human life, but the real challenge will be finding satisfaction in life.
It’s worth noting that Musk often makes such predictions that frequently do not materialize. For instance, in 2016 he predicted that within two years Tesla cars would be capable of fully self-driving from New York to Los Angeles. He also claimed SpaceX rockets would launch for Mars by 2018—neither of which came to fruition.
