Under the new design, the traditional Google Search button is replaced with three AI-focused options: Create Images, Ask About Files and Brainstorm.
The redesigned homepage has reportedly appeared for a limited number of users, including some people who visited Google’s homepage without signing in.
The Create Images option allows users to generate images using Google’s Nano Banana technology. The Ask About Files feature enables users to upload files and ask questions about their contents, while Brainstorm allows users to discuss and develop ideas around a particular topic with Google.
The changes mark a notable shift for Google’s homepage, which has remained largely unchanged for years and is known for its simple design centred around the search box.
Google Search Vice President Robby Stein confirmed on X that the company is testing the redesigned homepage with a limited number of users.
According to Stein, replacing the traditional Search button with AI shortcuts does not affect the core search functionality.
Google has not announced a specific date for a wider rollout of the redesigned homepage. The company is expected to assess user feedback and testing results before deciding whether to make the new design available to all users.
