According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature has appeared in a new beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices.

The report says WhatsApp is developing a contextual menu that will appear when users long-press a chat on the app’s home screen.

Alongside the usual controls, the menu will include a preview card displaying recent messages from the selected conversation.

The new menu will also offer several chat management options, including marking chats as unread, pinning, archiving and other shortcuts.

Additional options such as chat locking, adding chats to lists, viewing chat information and creating home screen shortcuts will also be available.

One of the key benefits of the feature is that users will be able to read message previews without sending read receipts to the sender.

This means blue ticks will not appear when messages are viewed through the preview card. They will only be triggered when users open the actual conversation.

However, the feature is currently available in the beta version and it remains unclear when WhatsApp will roll it out to all users.
