The platform is currently testing a new layout for the Home and Subscription feeds, aiming to make content discovery feel quicker, cleaner, and less cluttered.
But here’s the interesting part: YouTube is shifting the position of the Subscription feed from its usual spot in the bottom navigation bar and moving it to the top of the screen. The company says the goal is to create a smoother “swipeable” experience between Home and Subscription feeds.
YouTube is testing a redesigned mobile feed navigation experience for a small percentage of users on Android and iOS globally.

In simple words, users may soon be able to jump between feeds more naturally, without digging through menus or tapping around the app.
According to YouTube, the experiment is designed to help people reach relevant content faster. The company is also considering bringing other sections — including Movies & TV into the same layout, creating what looks like a more centralised viewing hub.
Another noticeable shift is the Explore menu. In the new design, it may appear dynamically when users refresh the screen or scroll upward, adding a more fluid feel to navigation.
For now, the feature is only being tested with a limited number of Android and iPhone users worldwide. YouTube says the wider rollout will depend on feedback and performance during the testing phase.
While the update may sound minor on paper, it reflects a much bigger trend in tech: platforms are trying to reduce friction and keep users moving through content without interruption.
And if this test succeeds, the familiar YouTube layout people have used for years may soon start to look very different.
