Yasir Sultan from Wapda won the silver medal with a throw of 70.77 metres, while Abrar Ali representing Pakistan Army earned the bronze with a throw of 67.68 metres. The opening ceremony of the Games was held at Karachi’s National Stadium with thousands of athletes from across the country taking part.
In his address, Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Saeed underscored the importance of participating in the National Games and praised Sindh’s efforts in hosting the event. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah pledged to make the Games a memorable and exemplary occasion.
Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed confidence that the athletes competing today would become Pakistan’s future medal winners. After the speeches, athletes joined a march past, led by the defending champions Pakistan Army, while the host province Sindh followed at the end.
Before the formal start of the Games, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim brought the torch into the stadium and handed it to Samir Hussain, Naseem Hameed, Saadi Abbas and Arshad Nadeem, who collectively lit the cauldron marking the opening of the National Games.
