Pakistan resumed their innings at 21 without loss but immediately ran into trouble as fast bowler Taskin Ahmed removed both openers early. Azan Awais was dismissed for 13, while Abdullah Fazal managed just 9, leaving Pakistan struggling at 23-2.
Babar Azam and captain Shan Masood tried to steady the innings with a 38-run partnership. However, spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke the stand by dismissing Masood for 21 before striking again shortly afterwards to remove Saud Shakeel for 8.
Pakistan slipped to 79-4 before Babar found some support from Agha Salman. The pair guided the visitors to 96-4 at the lunch break. Babar remained unbeaten on 37, while Salman was not out on 6.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 in their first innings after recovering from a difficult position of 116-6. Liton Das played a crucial knock of 126 off 159 balls, hitting 16 fours and two sixes to rescue the hosts.
He received valuable support from Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam in important lower-order partnerships that helped Bangladesh post a competitive total.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas claimed three. Hasan Ali picked up two wickets and Sajid Khan added one.
