The 24 year old right arm pacer has received clearance from the BBL Technical Committee and will be available for selection ahead of the Heat’s upcoming clash against Sydney Thunder at the Gabba on Saturday a meeting that carries extra spice, given Zaman’s past with the Thunder.
Zaman is no stranger to Australian conditions. During BBL|13, he represented Sydney Thunder, playing four matches and picking up eight wickets at an eye catching average of 16.38.
Since then, his career has gathered pace, earning him 10 T20 Internationals and one ODI cap for Pakistan.
Known for his sharp pace and clever changes, Zaman has continued to make his mark across the global T20 circuit. He recently turned heads in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, where he announced himself in style by claiming a hat-trick in his very first match of the tournament.
At home, Zaman is currently captained by Shaheen Afridi at Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, a setup that has helped polish his skills under pressure.
His resume also includes a stint in The Hundred, where he played for Manchester Originals, adding further depth to his short format experience.
Brisbane Heat head coach Johan Botha believes Zaman’s arrival could be a timely boost as the season enters its business end.
‘He’s a genuine wicket taker with the new ball and has the calmness to control an over when it matters,’ Botha said. ‘His pace, variations, and confidence give us more options at crucial moments.’
The Heat now turn their focus to a vital fixture against the Sydney Sixers in Coffs Harbour, as they fight to secure a top four finish. They will then return home to Brisbane to prepare for another showdown with the Sydney Thunder, who got the better of them earlier this season in Canberra.
With finals looming and momentum up for grabs, Brisbane Heat will be hoping Zaman Khan can hit the ground running and add fresh firepower to their bowling attack.
