England were set a record target of 457 runs but were bowled out for just 186 shortly before lunch on the final day of the four-day match. Off-spinner Sneh Rana starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 42 runs, including the final wicket of Sophie Ecclestone to complete India s victory.
The match marked the first Women s Test to be played at Lord s, coming 142 years after the venue hosted its first men s Test and following 150 men s Test matches at the iconic ground.
The victory also helped India erase painful memories from Lord s, where they were knocked out of this year s Women s T20 World Cup after losing to eventual champions Australia in the group stage.
England, meanwhile, struggled to adapt to the demands of the longer format. The Test was played just days after their defeat to Australia in the Women s T20 World Cup final on July 5.
Kranti Goud and Yastika Bhatia Make History
The match was also memorable for India s Kranti Goud and Yastika Bhatia, who both created history at Lord s.
Kranti Goud became the first woman to take a five-wicket haul in a Women s Test innings at Lord s after claiming 5 wickets for 37 runs in England s first innings.
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia also etched her name into the record books by becoming the first woman to score a century in a Women s Test at Lord s. Her brilliant 113-run knock laid the foundation for India s second-innings total of 341 for 7 declared.
India s commanding display with both bat and ball ensured a landmark victory in the historic Test match.
