Speaking to the media, Gabol said that Karachi, particularly Lyari, has a unique identity in football and is home to facilities that meet international standards. He added that FIFA has been formally informed about two football grounds in Lyari that are capable of hosting high-level matches.

He said the youth of Lyari possess exceptional passion and talent for football, and efforts would continue to further develop the sport and provide greater opportunities for local players.

Gabol noted that the installation of a large screen at a professional football ground would serve as an important facility for young football enthusiasts. He added that the restoration and development of sports facilities across Karachi remain among his key priorities.

The PPP leader said that with proper support and investment, Pakistani football could gain greater international exposure in the future.

Earlier, during a session of the Sindh Assembly, Gabol had stated that if Pakistan were ever given an opportunity to host FIFA World Cup matches, Lyari s football grounds could play a significant role.

Lyari has long been regarded as the heart of football in Karachi. Owing to its deep-rooted football culture, the area is often referred to as "Mini Brazil," with residents passionately following international football, particularly matches involving Brazil and Argentina.
