The schedule was announced during the unveiling ceremony as the tenth edition of the men s T20 World Cup is set to take place from February 7 to March 8, with India and Sri Lanka serving as co hosts for the twenty team event.

Pakistan and India have been placed in Group A with the United States, Namibia, and the Netherlands. The two arch rivals will meet on February 15 in Colombo, while Pakistan will play all of its matches in Sri Lanka. The opening match will be held between India and the United States on February 7, while Pakistan will be in action the same day against the Netherlands in Colombo.

The final is expected to take place either in Ahmedabad or Colombo. The venue will be determined by Pakistan’s qualification status as India and Pakistan are not engaged in bilateral cricket at present because of political tensions. The tournament will consist of four groups with five teams in each group. The top two sides from each group will move into the Super Eight stage which will be divided into two pools of four teams.

Sri Lanka, in contrast to co hosts India, are drawn in a tougher Group B alongside Australia, Zimbabwe, and Ireland, along with Oman. Group C includes England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy, and Nepal. Group D features South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada.

From that stage the top two teams from both Super Eight groups will qualify for the semi finals. India enter the event as the defending champions after beating South Africa in the final played in Barbados in 2024.
