Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Tareen explained that players’ social media accounts are often managed by handlers, as athletes rarely have the time to post themselves. ‘Even during matches, tweets and posts are regularly made on behalf of players,’ he added.
He emphasized that Naseem Shah’s remark should be seen through this lens rather than taken personally, calling it a minor slip in the fast-paced world of online commentary.
Turning to the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Tareen shared encouraging news for fans, hinting that an official update could allow spectators back into stadiums as early as tomorrow.
Reflecting on the Multan Sultans’ recent victory, Tareen was humble, saying, ‘I don’t want to take credit the game isn’t truly enjoyable without fans in the stands.’ He praised Gohar Shah’s skill in building a competitive team in a short span, calling it “highly commendable.’
Tareen also highlighted the importance of production quality in the PSL, noting that a top-tier broadcast is essential for full fan engagement. ‘A team doesn’t belong to its owner; it belongs to the fans. Owners are merely custodians,’ he remarked.
On the league’s overall success, Tareen recalled that the initial five franchises carried the PSL, with no one certain of its eventual triumph. ‘Today, the PSL is an extraordinary spectacle that captivates audiences across Pakistan,’ he concluded.
