Seven players — Ali Hassan Baloch, Daniyal Ali Khan, Hamza Zahoor, Huzaifa Ahsan, Mohammad Sayyam, Niqab Shafiq and Sameer Minhas — made their maiden appearance for Pakistan U19, marking their debut with an emphatic team display.
Asked to bat first, Pakistan piled up an imposing 345 for three. Player of the match Sameer Minhas delivered a remarkable unbeaten 177, featuring 11 fours and eight sixes in a 148-ball innings. The 19-year-old anchored the entire batting effort with maturity and power.
He put together a superb 293-run partnership with fellow centurion Ahmed Hussain, who struck a fluent 132 off 114 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.
Malaysia, in reply, were unable to cope with Pakistan’s tight and aggressive bowling attack. They were bundled out for 48 in 19.4 overs. Ali Raza gave Pakistan an early breakthrough and finished with figures of three for 11, while left-arm pacer Mohammad Sayyam also claimed three wickets. Daniyal Ali Khan picked up two for six and Niqab Shafiq took the final wicket, sealing Pakistan’s comprehensive win.
Pakistan will play their next match against India on Sunday, 14 December at the ICC Academy Ground, with the game scheduled to begin at 9am local time.
