The injury occurred during the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25, when Iyer suffered a fall while taking a catch, resulting in severe rib injuries.
The severity of the injury, which involved internal bleeding, necessitated a temporary stay in the ICU. However, in his first update since the incident, Iyer delivered encouraging news to his fans about his recovery.
The 29-year-old cricketer expressed his gratitude on the social media platform X, assuring supporters that he is steadily regaining strength. He wrote, “I am currently in the process of recovery and feel better with each passing day. I am truly grateful for all the prayers and well wishes; they mean a lot to me. Thank you all for keeping me in your thoughts.”
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Iyer’s condition has improved. A follow-up scan on Tuesday showed significant progress, and the star batsman is now firmly on the road to recovery.
