The Egypt international had criticised Liverpool after being left on the bench in last week’s 3-3 draw against Leeds, marking the third consecutive game he did not start. Salah also said he had no relationship with Slot when he spoke to reporters after that match.

Speculation over Salah’s future has continued, with reports linking him to the Saudi Pro League. However, Slot dismissed suggestions that the Brighton match could have been Salah’s last appearance for Liverpool, saying players were simply thanking supporters after the win.
Slot added that Liverpool would have to cope without Salah during the AFCON period, as the squad is already stretched due to limited player availability.
