Pakistan has urged all sides to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation amid the rising tensions.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed on Wednesday that the group targeted Aramco facilities in the Saudi city of Yanbu and the Khamis Mushait airbase in separate operations using missiles and drones.
Saree said the attacks were carried out in response to Saudi military operations in Yemen. Pakistan Matters could not independently verify the claims.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition said Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone on Tuesday after it was detected heading towards the restricted airspace south of Makkah.
The coalition described the security of Makkah and the holy sites as a red line. The Houthis have denied targeting Makkah or other holy sites, saying their operations are directed at Saudi oil facilities and military bases.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the reported Houthi drone incident near Makkah and said Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty and the sanctity of the holy sites.
The prime minister also called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and step back from further escalation.
Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said an attack on Makkah would be considered an attack on the entire Muslim world.
He urged Muslim countries, particularly Pakistan, to play a leading role in protecting Saudi Arabia and the holy sites.
The latest developments come amid continued tensions linked to the conflict in Yemen and growing concerns over the potential expansion of regional hostilities.
