This was developed in a telephone call between the Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani.
Iranian and Qatari foreign ministers, although worried about the situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, emphasized the role of good offices of the countries in the region in maintaining peace and stability in the country, a statement made by the foreign ministry of Iran.
The situation between Islamabad and the Taliban-led government in Kabul has deteriorated over the last few days after two big terrorist attacks in Pakistan one at Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan and another one at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex.
The suicide bombing on Tuesday in Islamabad claimed 12 lives and injured a total of 36 others that included lawyers, petitioners who were at the court. The same day, Pakistani troops cleared Cadet College Wana by killing all Fitna al-Khawarij militants (a term that refers to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)) who had penetrated the learning institution.
As it was stated, Araghchi and Thani also covered bilateral relations and general regional issues. Both parties concurred to go on with the cooperation efforts in the fields of common interest and to assess the situation in Gaza, such as the latest US draft resolution presented to the UN Security Council.
They emphasized on the necessity of consultations being conducted on a continuous basis to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are not violated especially their right to self-determination.
Russia, Iran urge Pak- Afghan negotiations.
November 12: The Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian colleague Seyed Abbas Araghchi discussed bilateral and regional issues.
They embraced the ceasefire plan between Islamabad and Taliban administration which was facilitated by Qatar and Turkiye to put a stop to cross-border firing along the Pak-Afghan frontier.
The two ministers urged further political and diplomatic discussions between the two nations to solve their differences amicably in the name of stability and safety in the region.
Another topic that Lavrov and Araghchi touched upon is the situation in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and once again sworn to execute the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran which was implemented on October 2.
