According to Kuwait s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the facility came under attack for the second time in two days, forcing authorities to activate emergency protocols after several power generation units were affected.
Firefighters were dispatched to contain the blaze, while officials urged residents to reduce electricity consumption as repeated attacks placed additional pressure on the country s power grid.
The latest strike follows an attack on a Kuwaiti oil facility on Saturday, marking the third consecutive day that key energy infrastructure has been targeted.
Earlier, Iran said it had launched drone attacks against US military assets in Kuwait, claiming it struck an ammunition depot at Camp Udairi as well as Patriot radar and air surveillance systems at Ali Al Salem Air Base in retaliation for recent US attacks on Iranian territory.
Air raid sirens sounded across Kuwait City, while Bahrain also activated warning systems as Iranian aerial attacks expanded across the Gulf.
Explosions were heard in northern Bahrain, according to AFP reporters, after warning sirens echoed across the capital, Manama.
Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy s Fifth Fleet, accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilian areas during the latest wave of attacks.
The latest escalation comes as Kuwait and Bahrain, both home to major US military installations, have increasingly found themselves caught in the crossfire since hostilities between the United States and Iran resumed despite a previously announced ceasefire and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Meanwhile, US Central Command (Centcom) said two American service members were killed on Friday while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, adding that another service member remains missing.
