Iranian state media published a handwritten note attributed to Larijani, commemorating Iranian sailors killed in the US strike on their vessel in international waters. It is unclear if the note is intended to serve as proof of life. Larijani was last seen publicly at the al-Quds Day rally in Tehran alongside Masoud Pezeshkian.
If verified, Larijani would be the highest-ranking official targeted in the ongoing US-Israel campaign against Iran since the strikes on February 28, which killed former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several family members. Larijani has been a senior figure in Iranian politics, previously serving as Speaker of Parliament and leading Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the West.
Israel’s military also announced on X that Soleimani, commander of the Basij militia for the past six years, was killed in a precision airstrike in Tehran guided by military intelligence. Iran has yet to respond to this report.
The claims signal an escalation in targeted operations against high-profile Iranian figures amid the ongoing war involving United States and Israel, raising tensions in the region further.
