Larijani has been a senior figure in Iranian politics, previously serving as Speaker of Parliament and leading Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the West.
Israel’s military also announced on X that Soleimani, commander of the Basij militia for the past six years, was killed in a precision airstrike in Tehran guided by military intelligence. Iran has yet to respond to this report.
The claims signal an escalation in targeted operations against high-profile Iranian figures amid the ongoing war involving United States and Israel, raising tensions in the region further.
