In a statement posted on Telegram, the army alleged that the targeted individual had been involved in efforts to re-establish Hamas’s operational capabilities, which Israel claims have been significantly weakened during more than two years of war in Gaza. There was no immediate response from Hamas regarding the claim.
According to Palestine’s Wafa news agency, an Israeli drone struck a vehicle near the Nabulsi junction in western Gaza City, causing casualties. The agency did not provide specific details on the number of people affected, and it was unclear whether this incident was the same strike referenced by the Israeli military.
Local authorities in Gaza said that despite a ceasefire that began in October, Israeli forces have continued to carry out daily attacks on the enclave, with nearly 800 incidents reported so far, which they describe as violations of the agreement.
Israel has also continued to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, blocking the majority of aid trucks from entering the territory. On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a resolution calling on Israel to allow unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza, halt attacks on UN facilities, and comply with international law in its capacity as an occupying power.
