Israeli Drone Strike in Nabatieh Leaves Four Dead
The agency reported that a school principal, her mother, a foreign domestic worker, and a Syrian male laborer were travelling in a car in the Nabatieh Fawqa area when they were struck by an Israeli drone as they were returning home. Israel has said it is reviewing reports related to the incident.
Despite a ceasefire arrangement, southern Lebanon has continued to witness intermittent clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, keeping tensions high along the border.
UK Fighter Jets Intercept Russian Patrol Aircraft Near Norwegian Sea
London: The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Royal Air Force fighter jets intercepted a Russian maritime patrol aircraft over the Norwegian Sea after it repeatedly approached a NATO carrier strike group operating in the region.

According to the Ministry of Defence, a Russian Bear-F reconnaissance aircraft flew at low altitude near the HMS Prince of Wales carrier group and came “unnecessarily close” during its operations. The aircraft is also believed to have dropped up to 10 sonar buoys in the area.
Officials described the Russian activity as “unsafe and unprofessional,” raising concerns over increased military friction in northern European waters.
The incident comes weeks after Royal Marines intercepted a vessel linked to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” in the English Channel, amid growing warnings from British defence leadership about rising geopolitical threats.
NATO Tensions Rise Amid Increasing Russian Activity
The UK carrier strike group is currently deployed under NATO command near Iceland and includes around 1,500 British personnel. It marks the first time NATO has conducted airborne surveillance operations from a European aircraft carrier.
The Ministry of Defence said attempts were made to communicate with the Russian aircraft on international frequencies, but no response was received. In response, two F-35 fighter jets were launched from the HMS Prince of Wales to escort the Russian aircraft away from the carrier group.
UK Chief of the Defence Staff Sir Richard Knighton previously warned that Russia is “testing, challenging and probing” Western defence systems, increasing pressure on NATO forces.
NATO has also cautioned that Russia could be preparing for potential military action by 2030, further heightening strategic concerns across Europe.
