According to reports, the attack took place at a Yokohama Rubber factory in the city of Mishima, located in Shizuoka Prefecture, west of Tokyo. Witnesses said the suspect used a knife to stab several workers and also threw a chemical substance, believed to be bleach, during the assault.
Emergency officials confirmed that eight injured individuals were rushed to hospital, while seven others sustained injuries linked to chemical exposure. The Fuji San Nanto Fire Department stated that five of the stabbed victims are in serious condition, though no further medical details were immediately released.
Local police identified the attacker as a factory worker and said he was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. Authorities have not yet shared information about a possible motive, saying the investigation is still in its early stages.
