According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meetings covered a wide range of discussions on global and regional security environments, with both sides acknowledging the importance of enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.
During the visit, General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its longstanding brotherly relations with Bangladesh and underlined the shared resolve to deepen ties based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, and common interests.
Both sides expressed optimism about strengthening defence and security collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to expanding military-to-military engagements and associated initiatives.
The CJCSC also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics, where he interacted with students and faculty. Bangladesh’s civil and military leadership lauded the Pakistan Army’s high professional standards, as well as its achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Earlier, upon arrival at Senakunja, General Mirza was presented with a formal Guard of Honour.
The visit to Bangladesh followed General Mirza’s official trip to the Maldives last week, where he held wide-ranging discussions with the Maldivian leadership on evolving global and regional security dynamics, as well as mutual interests including bilateral defence and security cooperation.
In Male, he met with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, and Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Vice Admiral (Retd) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, accompanied the CJCSC throughout his official engagements.
During the talks, both sides recognized the historic bonds of friendship between Pakistan and the Maldives, exploring avenues to further strengthen bilateral military ties and reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding strategic cooperation.
Maldivian civil and military leaders also commended the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Upon arrival at the MNDF Headquarters, General Mirza was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza’s back-to-back visits to Bangladesh and the Maldives highlight Pakistan’s renewed emphasis on building strategic defence linkages across South Asia. These diplomatic-military engagements signal Islamabad’s intent to foster trust, enhance regional security dialogue, and maintain cooperative ties with countries historically sharing complex but evolving relationships with Pakistan.
