The kingdom’s Royal Court said on Friday that the 90-year-old monarch was released after what it described as “reassuring” medical examinations.
In a statement carried by AFP, the Royal Court said King Salman “left the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh today (Friday) after undergoing medical tests that proved reassuring.”
The statement was issued through state media, after the court had earlier announced his admission to hospital.
King Salman has been on the throne since 2015. Details about his health are rarely made public, though he has undergone medical procedures and tests on several occasions in recent years.
In 2024, the Royal Court said the king had suffered from lung infections but later recovered. He was hospitalised in May 2022 for a colonoscopy and remained under observation for just over a week for additional tests and rest, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Earlier that year, in March 2022, he was admitted for what state media described as successful medical tests and to replace the battery of his pacemaker. In 2020, King Salman also underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder.
According to Reuters, the king last chaired a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, as reported by state media.
