Two members of the National Guard were shot in Washington on Wednesday, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on X and did not share further information.

Police in Washington reported that a shooting had occurred one block from the White House on Wednesday but did not provide additional details.

President Donald Trump was in Florida ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The U.S. Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to Washington DC Metropolitan Police.
The department stated on X that the scene is secured and one suspect is in custody.
