Former U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated the return of 20 hostages to Israel, calling it a major step toward peace in the Middle East.
“We had a lot of help from many people — some you might not expect,” Trump said, thanking the countries involved. “It’s an incredible success for Israel and for the world, with so many nations working together for peace.”
Trump described the event as a “historic dawn of a new Middle East.” He said the freed hostages had endured two difficult years in captivity and were finally reunited with their families.
“This is a day of light after darkness,” he said.
