Washington desires Kyiv to sign the key aspects of the plan, they argued. This would be a significant blow to Kyiv as Russian troops keep moving forward in eastern Ukraine and Zelenskiy is facing a corruption scandal which saw the parliament sack the energy and justice ministers on Wednesday.
An official of Ukraine had previously informed Reuters that Kyiv had been given messages regarding a series of U.S. offers to terminate the war which Washington has consulted with Russia.
The source said Ukraine has been not involved in constituting the proposals. On Thursday, the president of Ukraine, Zelenskiy, is expected to meet the representatives of the U.S. Army in Kyiv after meeting with President Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey on Wednesday. The biggest increase in the government bond prices of Ukraine in months on Wednesday was triggered by signs of a fresh U.S led push to stop the conflict.
There have been no direct discussions between Kyiv and Moscow since a meeting in Istanbul in July and Russian troops have been ongoing with their almost four year old war in Ukraine, killing 25 people in attacks overnight.
The peace talks are seemingly picking up momentum even as Moscow has not been keen on reviewing its terms of stopping the war. Russian President Vladimir Putin has continually insisted that Kyiv should relinquish its intentions to enter the U.S. dominated NATO military alliance and pullout its troops in four provinces that Moscow considers as part of the country.
Moscow has not shown signs of relenting those demands and Ukraine claims that it will not take them.
