According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces conducted what it described as “self-defence” strikes against an Iranian ground control station on Qeshm Island, located in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, CENTCOM said US forces also successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward regional targets.
The US military claimed that Iran fired several ballistic missiles toward neighboring countries, but none of them reached their intended targets.
According to CENTCOM, two missiles launched toward Kuwait either fell short or broke apart before reaching their destination, while three missiles fired at Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense systems.
Air raid sirens were reportedly activated in both Bahrain and Kuwait as regional security concerns intensified.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that explosions were heard in Qeshm City, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the incident.

CENTCOM further stated that an additional wave of Iranian drones attempted to target US forces stationed in Kuwait, but American air defenses successfully shot them down, preventing any casualties or damage to military assets.
On the other hand, the IRGC claimed responsibility for retaliatory strikes against US military bases and assets in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to the American attack on Qeshm Island.
However, CENTCOM rejected the Iranian claims, specifically denying reports that the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain or other American facilities had been successfully struck.
“All Iranian attacks on American forces failed,” CENTCOM said, adding that US forces remain fully prepared to respond to any further acts of aggression.
Despite the latest military exchanges, US officials insist that the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran remains in effect. Nevertheless, the recent incidents have raised concerns that tensions between the two countries could once again move toward a broader confrontation.
