The convoy’s movement towards Islamabad and the party’s future course of action had been the focus of political activity in the city.

The development came after an Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to block the passports of CM Sohail Afridi and 23 other PTI members until further orders.

The order was issued in a case registered at Kohsar Police Station. ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the investigating officer’s request to block the passports of the accused.

The court ordered the passports of Sohail Afridi, Asad Qaiser, Shehram Khan Tarakai, Shah Ahmed, Sher Ali Arbab, Muhammad Iqbal Afridi and Dr Amjad Ali to be blocked.

The order also included Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khattak, Zubair Wazir, Umar Ayub, Arshad Umarzai, Zar Alam, Mian Umar and Akhtar Khan.

Other PTI members named in the order are Humayun Khan, Riaz Khan, Abdul Kabir Khan, Tufail Anjum, Asif Mehsud, Ajab Gul, Muhammad Usman and Babar Saleem Swati. The court also ordered the passports of Irfan Saleem, Advocate Ali Zaman and Malik Shahab to be blocked.

According to the court’s decision, the individuals are nominated accused in the case based on the available record. The investigating officer argued that the accused could flee the country to avoid legal proceedings and alleged that they were involved in attacks on state institutions and promoting terrorism.

The court noted that several accused had failed to appear before it, while those who had obtained interim bail had also not joined the investigation.

The ATC subsequently accepted the investigating officer’s request and directed the FIA to keep the passports blocked until further orders.

Meanwhile, several PTI workers were arrested on Lahore’s Mall Road. During the arrests, Sohail Afridi reportedly stopped a prisoner vehicle and demanded the immediate release of the detained workers.

Afridi said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz would have to apologise to the public and warned that he would not allow the vehicle to leave until the workers were released.

He demanded the immediate release of the arrested workers and said that if they were not released, he would announce his future course of action.
