Speaking on Geo News programme Naya Pakistan, Lanjar said a meeting had been held with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, during which the decision to form the judicial commission was taken.

“We will have this case investigated by high court judges,” Lanjar said, describing the formation of a judicial commission as a necessity.

Mir Raza Ali’s body was found in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area last month, a day after he went missing on July 28.

Lanjar also announced changes to the investigation team, with DIG Amir Farooqi appointed as its head. He said the victim’s family had been informed that any police officer recommended by them would also be included in the investigation team.

“The government stands with the people — it is the government’s duty to deliver justice,” he said, adding that the authorities shared the grief of Mir Raza’s family.

The minister said there was so far no evidence suggesting that any high-profile personality was behind the killing.

Responding to concerns raised by police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed, Lanjar said she should have approached the government if she believed the post-mortem examination had been conducted incorrectly.

He said the government had faced criticism because the doctor had not informed her superiors about what he described as shortcomings in the post-mortem report.

New investigation committee formed

A five-member investigation committee was constituted following the exhumation of Mir Raza Ali’s body.

According to a notification, DIG Amir Farooqi was appointed committee chairman, while SSP Rapid Response Force Ali Raza was named secretary.

The committee also includes SP Investigation Korangi Qais Khan, Central SP Investigation Anum Tajammul and an officer from the Special Investigation Unit, Zaman Town.

The new committee was formed on the instructions of Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho after the previous investigation committee was dissolved.

Post-mortem reveals multiple injuries

Mir Raza Ali’s body was exhumed for a fresh post-mortem examination before being reburied at a graveyard near Tariq Road.

The initial medical report, a copy of which was obtained by Geo News, addressed all 14 points raised by police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed during the examination.

According to sources, the report found that Ali had sustained a gunshot wound from the rear, while multiple marks of violence were present across his body.

His ribs were found fractured, with several injuries recorded on his head and face. Black marks were also found on his body, while injuries were noted on his feet and blood stains were found on tissues in the lower part of his body.

The report also identified a fracture and an approximately 12-centimetre-long injury on his right thigh.

Evidence of a deep injury and fracture was found around the jaw, along with injuries to the nasal bone and other parts of the face.

Multiple severe injuries were also recorded in the chest area, including a fracture of the sixth rib.
