Earlier reports suggested that Deepika left the project because the production team was not willing to agree to her demand for reasonable and fixed working hours, including an eight-hour daily schedule. Reports also linked the actress to social media posts supporting the demand for an eight-hour workday.
However, Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of Spirit director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has now offered a different explanation.
In an interview with Telugu news channel NTV Telugu, Pranay claimed that compensation and profit-sharing were also among the issues that led to Deepika’s departure from the project.
According to him, Deepika had allegedly demanded a 10% share of the film’s total profits. He said fulfilling all of the actress’s demands was becoming difficult because of the film’s budget.
Pranay said the reasons for the disagreement included compensation and working hours, along with some other issues.
He added that an actor can ask for whatever terms they want, but the production team can only agree if it is financially feasible and the film’s budget can accommodate those demands.
According to Pranay, when the financial calculations no longer appeared workable, the team began considering other options. He claimed that once alternative possibilities were explored, details of the negotiations began leaking publicly.
The claims have added another dimension to the controversy surrounding Deepika’s exit from Spirit. The actress has not publicly confirmed the alleged 10% profit-share demand.
Deepika Also Exits ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Sequel
Deepika’s departure from Spirit comes after she also exited the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed on social media that the two sides had been unable to reach an agreement for the sequel despite prolonged discussions.
With Deepika no longer attached to either Spirit or the Kalki 2898 AD sequel, speculation continues over her future major projects in Bollywood and the reasons behind the recent breakdowns in negotiations.
